Tudor Brown

President, ARM

Tudor Brown was one of the founders of ARM. Before joining the Company, he was at Acorn Computers where he worked on the ARM R&D programme. He joined the board in 2001 and became President in 2008 with responsibility for developing high-level relationships with industry partners and governmental agencies and for regional development. His previous roles include Engineering Director and Chief Technology Officer, EVP Global Development and Chief Operating Officer. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and is a non-executive director of ANT plc. He currently sits on the UK Government China Task Force.”

Russell Buckley

Vice President, Global Alliances, AdMob Inc.

Russell is a leading expert on mobile marketing, having overseen thousands of campaigns since 2000. MobHappy, his blog about mobile technology and mobile marketing, is one of the most popular focusing on this area. Before specializing in mobile, he spent over 15 years working in marketing, including advising leading brands such as Coca-Cola, Diageo, Texaco and Mars. In 2000, he was recruited to be Director of Marketing of mobile marketing start up, ZagMe, one of the leading pioneers in mobile advertising and location based marketing. Russell learned about AdMob soon after the launch and joined as its first employee, with the remit of launching AdMob into the EMEA market. Russell is currently Global Chairman Emeritus of the Board of The Mobile Marketing Association and a founder of Mobile Monday in Germany. Google’s acquisition of AdMob for $750 million was confirmed in May 2010.

Terry Burt

Terry Burt is responsible for strategy, direction and management of 2e2, from its inception in 2002 to its current status as a leading innovator and provider of IT solutions and services to the UK and Netherlands upper mid-market. Prior to this, from 2000 – 2001 Terry was Vice President of Customer Services (EMEA)  for NCR where he was responsible for 5,500 people and $800m revenues. From 1994 – 2000 he was Chief Operating Officer and Vice President at 4Front Technologies (NASDAQ) where he was responsible for growth from $3m revenues in 1994 to $250m in 2000. He led the Secondary Offering to raise funds in 1998 and was ultimately responsible for the sale and integration into NCR in October 2000. Terry was previously Managing Director and Director of Client Services at K2 Systems PLC, which he started up and was generating revenues of $10m prior to its sale to 4Front Technologies Inc in March 1994.

Sherry Coutu

Angel Investor

Sherry Coutu is an experienced executive, former CEO and angel investor who now serves on the boards of companies, charities and universities. The companies she serves range from fast growth private early stage to public and boards with turnover more than £ 1 bn. As an entrepreneur, Sherry established two businesses in the financial services industry. The first (acquired by Euromoney) has operations in more than 70 countries. The second (acquired by AMP) was floated in 2000 on London and Nasdaq and valued at more than $1 billion before being acquired.

Sherry loves working with great entrepreneurs solving problems that matter.  Her current portfolio of interests include sitting on the Advisory Boards of Linkedin, Harvard Business School European Council, NESTA and Cancer Research UK. Her investments usually include ‘databases’, as a common theme.  These range from movies (Lovefilm) to real-estate (Zoopla), energy consumption (Alertme), clean energy (New Energy Finance), water pressure (i20), investments (covester), professional contacts (Linkedin), builders (mybuilder), to how to get pregnant by monitoring trends in body temperature (CTC).   Her latest ‘exit’ was New Energy Finance (acquired by Bloomberg).

Jana Eggers

CEO, Spreadshirt

Jana became Spreadshirt’s global CEO in August 2007, having joined the fast-growing company in 2006 to expand the North American subsidiary and to help manage the global corporation. She commutes between Spreadshirt’s Leipzig headquarters and North American corporation in Boston, MA, with occasional days in London, Paris, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Legnica, Poland.

Originally from Arkansas, Jana has a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and started her work life as a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, but quickly turned to solving business problems. “Translating technology into business is my career,” she says.

Jana came to Spreadshirt from Intuit where she founded the Corporate Innovation Lab and ran the company’s fastest growing business unit, QuickBase – an online application platform.  Prior to Inuit, Jana held executive and technical positions at American Airline’s Sabre, Lycos and several start-ups.

Her work in innovation and leadership has been recognized with the Mass High Tech’s (Journal of New England Technology) Woman to Watch Award in 2004, Intuit’s CEO Excellence in Leadership Award in 2005 and the Hendrix College Odyssey Medal for Professional and Leadership Development in 2007.  Jana has been featured in Business Week and Fortune magazines and is a frequently invited speaker at high-tech industry and educational events, including the Net Promoter and eTail conferences in London.

Al Gosling

CEO, The Extreme Sports Company

Al Gosling first discovered a passion for extreme sports at an early age, however never predicted it would become the basis of a global business. Initially, he sold board shorts to his mates whilst studying for exams at school but quickly moved into the fast paced world of TV, selling extreme sports programmes to broadcasters around the world. With this the idea for the Extreme Sports channel and Extreme brand began to take shape. The Extreme Sports Channel launched across Europe in 1999 and today broadcasts into millions of homes around the world.

From 2007 Al focused on becoming one of the world’s most innovative licensing companies growing the company by targeting areas with similar brand philosophy and values, bringing in deeply experienced industry specialist MDs, and developing products and services that offer consumers something new and different. Today, the Extreme Sports Company is an entrepreneur-led collection of licenses and companies with a unique brand driven by the Extreme Sports channel and Extreme.com which is currently in over 40 million homes in 58 countries and 14 languages.

When not in the office or in meetings you will find him either windsurfing, kite surfing, flying, off-piste skiing, ice climbing or sailing somewhere in the world.

Hermann Hauser

Co-founder, Amadeus Capital Partners

Serial Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Amadeus Capital Partners, Dr Hermann Hauser CBE has wide experience in developing and financing companies in the information technology sector.

He co-founded the Acorn Computer Group plc and subsequently became vice president of research at Olivetti. During his tenure at Olivetti, he established a global network of research laboratories. Since leaving Olivetti, Hermann has founded over 20 technology companies.

In 1997, he co-founded Amadeus Capital Partners. Hermann is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and of the Royal Academy of Engineering and an Honorary Fellow of King’s College, Cambridge. In 2001 he was awarded an Honorary CBE for ‘innovative service to the UK enterprise sector’. In 2004 he was made a member of the Government’s Council for Science and Technology and in 2009 took over the Chair of the East of England Stem Cell Network (EESCN) and became a member of the Government advisory panel for New Industry/New Jobs.

Hermann Hauser has honorary doctorates from the Universities of Loughborough, Bath and Anglia Ruskin.

Martin Leuw

Martin joined the main board of IRIS in May 2001 and has led its growth from revenues of £9m to over £120m p.a.

Previously he was Chief Executive of a venture capital backed internet business servicing primary care and the pharmaceutical industry which he successfully sold in January 2001 and before that, he was on the Executive Policy Group of PPP Healthcare Group plc and Managing Director of Access 24, an award-winning Medical communications Centre, which was a fore-runner to NHS Direct.

Martin has a BSc (Hons) in Management Science from Manchester University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen.

Richard Longdon

Group Chief Executive, AVEVA Group plc

Richard Longdon received an engineering training in the defence industry then gained experience in the project management of high value engineering projects. He moved into sales and held a series of international sales and marketing positions.

He joined AVEVA in 1984 and shortly afterwards was made marketing manager for the process products. In January 1992 he relocated to Frankfurt where he was responsible for setting up and running the Group’s German office. He returned to the UK as part of the management buyout team in 1994, subsequently taking responsibility for the Group’s worldwide sales and marketing activities, before being appointed Managing Director in May 1999. He took over as Group Chief Executive in December 1999.

Ashish Patel

Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, AVG Technologies

Ashish Patel was managing director and a member of the Management Review Committee at Intel Capital, a global leader in strategic investing, where he was responsible for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region and led investments in more than 50 technology start ups. He joined Intel Capital in 1999 and was a founding member of the firm in Europe and opened the London, Moscow, Dubai and most recently, Johannesburg offices. Patel was an early backer of open source software and lead Intel’s strategic investments into Suse and MySQL as well as opening up new emerging markets through investments such as Yandex and AVG.

Prior to Intel Capital, Patel was an investment director with Actis, a leading private equity investor in emerging markets, where he was a member of the telecom team. Patel qualified as an ACA with Coopers & Lybrand where he was engaged with corporate finance advisory activity mainly with large-cap international businesses. He serves on several boards, including AVG, Colibrys, and IP Access. Patel holds a B.Sc. in Economics from London School of Economics.

Stuart Paver

MD, Pavers

Stuart Paver, MD of York-based Pavers Shoes, founded in 1971 by Catherine Paver, retailer of branded and own brand footwear in the UK and Ireland.

After leaving school he joined the family business. Pavers subsequently focused on footwear and have opened nearly 100 high street stores and factory outlets.  In 1998 Stuart began to explore the commercial possibilities created by the internet which led him to launch shoe-shop.com, an independent company which became the largest footwear site in Europe, merging with Pavers in March 2010. In 2006 Stuart launched ‘Staccato’ one of China’s most successful brands into the UK,  a store selling up to the minute catwalk styles at amazing prices.

Stuart has also built strong relationships in India, and 2008 saw the launch of Pavers into India as a joint venture which has a factory and over 100 outlets selling Pavers England  products in one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Michael Ross

CEO, eCommera

Michael co-founded eCommera with Andrew. Prior to eCommera, Michael was CEO of Figleaves.com, the world’s leading online retailer of multi-brand lingerie, underwear, hosiery and swimwear, selling over 200 brands from Aubade to Zimmerli. Mark Sebba

Mark Sebba joined NET-A-PORTER.COM in 2003, to help take the business from successful start-up to a mature expanding business with a substantial infrastructure. Mark’s background is in finance both as an investment banker and as finance director of two venture capital funded businesses in new media.

In the last six years, sales have grown from £6 million to £120 million, employees from 40 to 600 covering two continents; space occupied has grown from 15,000 sq ft to nearly 300,000 sq ft and the company has just been acquired by Richemont International for £350 million.

Ted Shelton

Ted Shelton is currently CEO of Open-First. He has spent the past 20 years working in the high tech industry, as a software developer, in product development, marketing, and as a senior executive in both public and privately held companies. Prior to Open-First Shelton co-founded The Conversation Group.  He also developed a new participatory media platform called The Personal Bee, which was acquired by Technorati in early 2007.  Previous roles include Chief Strategy Officer of Borland Software and Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for WhoWhere (acquired by Lycos).

David Soskin

David Soskin was formerly Head of Global Media at ABN Amro Corporate Finance.

David became CEO of Cheapflights in 2000. Under his leadership,  Cheapflights went from a home attic operation to an award-winning leader in international travel search. Cheapflights has featured in The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track of the UK’s 100 fastest-growing technology companies for six years in a row and was recently ranked at Number 11 in the Sunday Times PwC Profit Track

Mary Turner

CEO, AlertMe.com

Mary Turner was appointed CEO of AlertMe.com Ltd. In February 2010. Prior to this, Mary was CEO of broadband company Tiscali UK, growing the company from less than half a million dial-up customer to the third largest DSL provider in the UK with 1.8m broadband customers by 2008.  At Tiscali she headed up a number of acquisitions including Video Networks IPTV business (Homechoice) and the Pipex broadband and telephone business, before the sale of Tiscali UK to The Talk Talk Group in 2009.

In 1999 she became CEO of BT LineOne, leading its sale to Tiscali SpA the Milan listed company in 2001. Before BT LineOne she was General Manager UK (ISP and Portal) and Vice-President Marketing Europe for AOL Bertelsmann/CompuServe Information Services.

Mary also has extensive consumer retail experience through senior management roles at Elizabeth Arden, Avon and the Innovations Group. Ms Turner is also on the board of ASOS PLC.

Henri Winand

CEO, Intelligent Energy

Henri Winand joined Intelligent Energy as Chief Executive in 2006. Under his leadership, Intelligent Energy has accelerated the commercialisation of its technologies by developing profitable, scalable and long-term market led relationships with key partners across its target market sectors. Current customers and partners include Scottish & Southern Energy plc, with whom the company has formed a joint venture, The Suzuki Motor Corporation and Airbus.

Prior to Intelligent Energy, Henri spent much of his career working for Rolls-Royce plc, most recently as Vice President of Corporate Venturing. During his time with Rolls-Royce, he also managed a power systems business, introduced new manufacturing technologies into the group and was responsible for defining and supervising the implementation of strategies for deriving additional value from the group’s technology assets.

Henri has a PhD from the University of Cambridge, a Masters of Business Administration from Warwick University and a BEng from Imperial College, London.

Mark Zaleski

Chairman, DVDPost

Since 2007, Mark Zaleski is the Chairman of DVDPost. He is also a Venture Partner in BBV and a NED in CyberSports. Mark was Chairman and CEO of Dailymotion from 2007 to 2009. Under his leadership it became the world’s leading independent video-sharing site.

From 2000, Mark was CEO for QXL ricardo plc. QXL was the best performing stock on LSE’s Main Market in both 2004 and 2005. It was sold for nearly £1 billion.

Prior to QXL, Mark was President of Webvan, where he and other officers raised nearly $600M. Mark is a Fellow of the IoD.
